Wacky World ![]()
A radio veteran of 25 plus years...all at WDUX.
During his career, Lee has done it all..color commentary, news reporting,
announcing... nights, mornings and afternoons: even part time sales.
Currently, Lee is WDUX Continuity Director, Copywriter and host of the
Swap Shop on AM 800.
He is a graduate of Little Wolf High School, Class of '78 and a graduate of
Trans American School of Broadcasting. Also known as "Capt. Lee," he was drawn
to radio after seeing a TV movie about Orson Wells and his radio production of
The War of the Worlds. "I was fascinated with the way they made their sound
effects for that broadcast using ordinary everyday objects."
And where did the nickname "Capt. Lee" come from? "I got that handle thanks to former morning man Mike Stockwell. He got us (WDUX) a "traffic helicopter," dubbed "The WDUX Whirlybird." He needed a pilot for the contraption and so he made me the "Captain of the WDUX Whirlybird." One special claim Lee likes to make is, he was one of the first reporters in the state, maybe even the first, to get a live on the air one on one interview with Packers Quarterback Brett Favre after his trade to Green Bay. It happened at a basketball fund raiser in Wautoma. "The only question I can remember having asked is, "How do you pronounce your name?"
